Mike Crockart elected as new MP for Edinburgh West

Mike Crockart joins a strong local Lib Dem team as the new MP for Edinburgh West! Mike would like to thank everyone who supported him during the general election campaign. Mike replaces John Barrett who served as MP here in Edinburgh West for the past nine years.

Mike said: “I am absolutely honoured and delighted to have been elected. I will work very hard for my constituents at Westminster and will fight to make sure that local interests and issues are represented within the coalition Government.”

Margaret Smith MSP for Edinburgh West said: “I’m thrilled that Mike was elected as the new MP. There are real challenges ahead as the new coalition government tackles the massive deficit Labour has left behind. Already the new Government has made it clear that we are determined to lower taxes for the poorest paid, end ID cards and start a new relationship based on respect with the Scottish Parliament. We need both governments at Westminster and Holyrood working together to deal with the mess Labour has left behind them.”
