Crockart Raises Concerns About Proposed Forth Crossing Bill

17 November 2009

Mike Crockart, PPC for Edinburgh West, said he remains concerned about the proposed Forth Crossing Bill published today in the Scottish Parliament.

Mr. Crockart said:

“While there is no doubt that the new crossing has great economic benefits, I still have a number of concerns regarding the proposed structure and the financing of the project.

“The project is costing the taxpayer for more than we originally thought and I remain concerned that the bill committee may not consider any potential cost overruns.

“I am also aware that many residents of South Queensferry will have to suffer from years of construction related problems as a result of the project. The disruption to their lives should be kept to a minimum and compensation paid where appropriate.

“With Transport Scotland not having what many felt was a proper consultation; I hope that the bill committee will be taking into account the genuine concerns of many residents of South Queensferry.”
