Let me take this opportunity to thank everyone who campaigned so tirelessly in Edinburgh West to get me elected as Scotland's Liberal MEP. Being elected as Scotland's Liberal Democrat representative in Europe is both an honour and a great responsibility. As the only new face in a team of six MEPs that will fight for Scotland's interests over the next five years there is a great opportunity to bring about change from the inside. As ever, the campaigning must not stop with the passing of polling day. Keeping up the momentum we generated from the campaign is vital if we are to win more votes and more seats at the next General Election. I want to get out and about in Scotland as much as possible, campaigning to show that only the Liberal Democrats offer the change we need. To do this I need your help. Please visit my website at www.georgelyon.org.uk and get involved in the campaigns. Right now I am fighting against the nomination of Tony Blair as EU President. I don't believe that the man responsible for the illegal invasion of Iraq, and the man who ignored millions across Europe who opposed the war, should be given the responsibility of representing us. If you agree with me then please get involved and sign the petition.
