At the meeting of the Transport, Infrastructure and Environment Committee on Tuesday 25 November, it was agreed that the Council would provide a subsidy to Lothian Buses to enable the X48 service to continue to serve Ratho for the remainder of the current financial year. During this time a full procurement exercise will be carried out to establish the cost of, and options for, longer term operation of the service to Ratho. Commenting, Margaret Smith MSP admits that this is relief for the residents of Ratho, Ratho Station and surrounding area: “The X48 is a vital community service and any removal of the Ingliston –Ratho section of the route would have hit residents of Ratho and Ratho Station hard. It is great to hear that the Council has taken the decision to continue its service.”
